Inspirational Abstract Art

I had a very good friend visiting last week. This was a great opportunity to go into town and discover  different exhibitions, shows and events out of the normal. I really enjoyed strolling and wondering about where our interest took us. I rarely do that on my own, which is a shame as there is so much cultural inspiration to get in London.
One gallery, Studio 1 on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch had an artist showing his latets project.
It is Staphan Sarkissian - Faded Tapestries.

I am usually quite skeptic to abstract art but here in his work I really enjoyed the colours he used and the texture...Very inspirational.

Vintage School Nurseries

Have you ever thought about decorating a room in a "school theme"?
See how you can take inspiration from vintage "school" furniture and create a cool nursery for your little one!
The following pictures are by Mandy Lynne - we love the styling of the room.

Vintage desks, tables & chairs are great together with a black board.

If you prefer a more modern look than you can be creative with wall letters! You will see how fun it can look and how easy it is to learn the ABC!

O stands for Otto? H for house... simple games give them a great start they will remember.

Of course this does not only work with letters but also with numbers.

We also love these lockers - used as toy storage or wardrobes. The vintage versions can be quite pricy but there are a few highstreet shops who carry more affordable versions of them and they look equally great.

For older children we like the idea of a world map - both stylish AND useful!

We love the idea of the magnetic wall - great way if you don't like a black board wall but still like to use the space and reuse it....and reuse it....

Stars & Stripes With A Twist

We really like the idea of having clean lines in children rooms.
But that does not need to be sparse - you can make the room interesting with bold monochromatic graphics like stars & stripes. As these are unusual stars & stripes (not the American flag as you might have thought), we call them stars & stripes with a twist...... take a look!

Just one wall painted with stars - keep the others in white

A matching stripped carpet looks great to the stars wall

The same goes for the stripped carpet with the dotted wall

Stripes in neutrals like grey & white or sand & white is always a good option when you have colorful furniture

If you like more color in your room, try to keep the wall neutral and use color for the carpet and the furniture

Of course it goes the other way round as well - notice the striped furniture to the striped floor!

Clean lines give a room structure and keep it calm.

For girls we prefer walls in pink and white stripes to simple white furniture.

Our little tip if you like to use stars and stripes: Watch out that the colors work together and try to keep the furniture simple colors.

A Treasure Found

Summer Holidays are over and all my kids went back to school today. With a cup of coffee I sat down in peace (finally after 6 weeks) and surfed my favourite shops to refresh home and wardrobe for the Autumn...
I am an absolute fan of the American Shop called Anthropologie. I was thrilled when they opened their first shop in London. I love their eclectic ranges of clothes, accessories and homeware. When I go in one of their shops I feel like a little girl in a sweet shop - I just want EVERYTHING.
I discovered that they introduced children's products into their offerings!!!
I just LOVE LOVE LOVE these

Sun Striped Tights

Smiley Socks

Banderole Pencil Set

Pirate Bunny Knit Toy
