Ceiling treatments in kids rooms

Most of us think about wall color if we talk about colors in kid’s rooms.
But don't forget to color the ceiling when it comes to style a nursery!

It is fantastic to see how a ceiling can give the room its  theme.

Here it seems to have the sky above you

Or the whole universe

Stripes remind us on a circus roof and go for boys and girls at every age

Even when they share their room

Butterflies are so girlish and yes – we love it!

If you like to keep the room  fairly neutral in colour, ceiling treatments are useful to add the little extra to the room.

For those of you who think color can never be too much, there are powerful treatments we really fancy - paper pom poms!

If you go through the post you will see that every room has its own story with its different ceiling treatment.

We love how easy it is to create a unique room for your child when working on the ceiling.

LEGO rooms - can they be tasteful?

Mums and dads – keep your kids away if you like to continue to read our next post!

If not, you are in danger to have to redecorate your kids bedroom very very soon as we will show you some good and tasteful LEGO inspired ROOMS!

You might ask, can rooms actually be tasteful in a Lego theme?
Have a look and make your own decision if you think so or not.

What we found is that you can create a wonderland for Lego fans in different colors and styles

And YES, it is definitely something for the bold who loves eye catching details.

We start to show ideas for our littlest – what we love are the bright colors you can use (blue, green, yellow, orange etc.) it looks like the rooms shout  “come and play”!

If somebody really loves Lego it can be fun and tasteful to live in a completely decorated Lego room..
but some just like to have an indication that lego lives here....

Just a few Lego accessories can grant the room the individual and fun touch – and that looks definitely tasteful for boys and girls!

Tasteful or not – are your kids happy? ...

… Then we think nothing is wrong with having and creating a Lego room!

Everything is awesome!

Shared Spaces

Having your own bedroom as a child is not always possible.
My children shared rooms and we kind of swopped a few times around with whom.
First the older boys shared their room and so did the younger ones until I had to take the youngest out as he was keeping my girl up most of the night...
Than the oldest boy got his own room and so did the girl, but middle boy and youngest boy liked the idea to continue to share and they did for quite a while. You get the idea...
As you see we needed different room constellations depending who shared with whom but that was never a problem as the room deco stayed unisex - it encouraged them to play, share and be tolerant of each other.
A great way to start out I think.
If you do care about how a shared room looks and like to get some ideas - just continue reading!
Great room ideas for two boys, two girls or even boy and girl!

If you like the idea of a partition - create it with a simple curtain - easy!
Emphasize it with girl’s and boy’s wall colors.

The right accessories can help shared rooms be Unisex in style

What we love most – as always – are the unusual details.
Look at the bunk beds - are they not fun?
Or the birdhouse bed heads?
Lying head to head under the same window to glare at stars and drift into sleep...

    .

There are different possibilities to place the beds

Above each other (we are sure the kids will love to scramble up and down the ladder)

Next to each other (we love the summer colors in this room)

Or in one line (very useful to share a good night story)

It’s playtime – shared play corners can make so much fun

Boys spaces

I have 4 children – 3 boys and 1 girl and I know very well that not only my daughter needs time on her own to play with her girl toys and do girly stuff but also my
3 boys need time on their own, specially the older ones need their own space.

They do play a lot together as its fun with company and there is always one of their siblings around but there are moments during the day when they enjoy playing by themselves - they dive in their own world and take their time off from the larger family.

Moving from traditional nursery setting into a boys room where lego and playmobile is not taking over floors can be difficult...though we have found some great ideas for boy’s spaces – be assured it does not always have to be in color blue!

It’s does not need a genius to make a room boyish just a few fun details!

We love dark walls in general and in boys rooms they look great I have to admit. The darker the better.
But if you prefer white walls - furnish with graphics & geometrics!

I am just planning my oldest sons new room. Its under the eves - good size but not much light.
He likes a dark wall - he is very much involved in the planning...I think it will work - it will increase the cosiness for his "man cave" as he calls it and as he uses the room mostly in the evenings we just need to make sure he has good lighting. Mood lighting and task lighting.
I love dark (grey-blue) walls mixed up with wooden details. It instantly links the room to the outdoor what usually boys love too!

We will start decorating it next month.
Maybe I will show you some results on the blog - check back soon if you like!

If you have not the space for a wendy house outside than maybe they can have a little wooden “house” in their room? Whatever their wishes are we are convinced together you will find some great ideas

… and if not, here are some more…
